Why it is unique

The programme offers the brightest students the resources they need to realise their full potential:

  • A team of teachers specialised in different areas of knowledge provide students with the necessary support for their highly demanding academic studies both inside and outside school hours.
  • Facilities and technology: SEK boarding houses are located on school grounds, so that boarders have constant access to the resources and facilities they need for their work, with technological tools integrated in the educational model: Ipads, netbooks, digital whiteboards, blogs.
  • International Careers Guidance Programme: The Careers Guidance Department offers personalised advice to each student, helping him or her in the choice of studies and universities, as well as putting together the best programme for his or her future.

What does the programme include?

The academic excellence programme offers personalised high-quality teaching to students who do not settle for anything but the best, and is based on three fundamental pillars:

  • A personalised, demanding, exciting and motivating curriculum that adapts to the needs, interests and objectives of each student.
  • A first-rate teaching team, which guarantees the highest academic standards in cutting-edge facilities and relying on the use of the latest technologies.
  • Guaranteeing a first-rate education: students receive an outstanding education, laying a solid foundation from which to achieve success in their pre-university studies.

SEK University Baccalaureate

SEK students can choose to study the Spanish Bachillerato or the IB® Diploma Programme (International Baccalaureate), thanks to a highly flexible educational model and by introducing a methodological change:

  • We offer students a bridge between school and university, preparing them for higher education with teaching plans including subjects that are based on the university credit system.
  • Integration of new technologies across all subjects, making the most of their potential: iPads, laptops, video, Wi-Fi …
  • A methodology that reverses traditional work dynamics: theory and contents are hosted by teachers in online platforms, so that students can consult them at any time, taking advantage of the class schedule for practical work.

Spanish Bachillerato or IB® Diploma Programme?

Students can decide according to their needs.

Spanish Bachillerato (LOMCE)

Part of the academic excellence programme for students who want to obtain the best grades in Bachillerato and in entrance exams to Spanish universities, with an enriching model and an innovative methodology focused on developing talent.

Subjects are tailored to students’ abilities and level, allowing them to develop their full potential, but they are awarded a real final mark, based on the objectives attained and the knowledge acquired.

They are able to choose subjects from the IB® Diploma Programme in English, with the aim of enriching their curriculum, as well as broadening their knowledge of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme.

IB® Diploma Programme

SEK International Schools were the first schools in Spain to teach the three International Baccalaureate IB® programmes. Specifically, the Diploma Programme is aimed at:

  • Students who have completed Spanish Compulsory Secondary Education, or who have studied at foreign schools in Spain, in non-Spanish education systems.
  • Foreign students who wish to study in Spain and enjoy an international experience.
  • Those who want to secure their access to a non-Spanish university.

The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme:

  • Is a two-year pre-university programme that prepares students to enter the best universities in the world and is characterised by its international outlook.
  • It is taught in English or in Spanish and English. Whatever students prefer.
  • As part of the SEK school’s academic excellence programme, the International Careers Guidance Department helps students to choose the universities they should apply to, as well as how to fill out and complete their applications to maximize the possibilities of admission.
